Do You Meet the Super Visa Income Requirement?
Uses IRCC's minimum necessary income table (updated July 29, 2025) and the two ways to qualify in effect since March 31, 2026.
A guide only, not an immigration decision. Option 1 uses either of the two tax years before you apply (proof: CRA notice of assessment). Option 2 needs your income to reach 75% of the minimum, with your parent's continuing income covering the rest. Only a spouse or common-law partner can co-sign. IRCC income rules.
Landing at Pearson: The First 24 Hours
Toronto Pearson is inside Mississauga, so for most families the trip home is short. These are the things we see families get wrong on day one.
Start the policy on the arrival date
IRCC requires coverage valid for one year from entry. If the policy starts later than the landing date, your parent is uninsured on the drive home.
Keep the insurer's 24/7 number in the carry-on
If your parent feels unwell on arrival, the insurer's assistance line tells you where to go and can arrange direct billing with the hospital.
Know the two nearest emergency departments
Trillium Health Partners runs 24/7 emergency departments at Mississauga Hospital (100 Queensway W) and Credit Valley Hospital (2200 Eglinton Ave W).
Carry the policy wallet card, not just the PDF
Trillium asks patients to bring OHIP “and/or any other medical coverage”. Your parent's Super Visa card is that coverage.

Everyday Mississauga for Visiting Parents
Seniors 65 and over ride MiWay free with a PRESTO card set to the senior fare type. The City's page lists proof of age, not residency. A PRESTO card costs $4.
The Mississauga Seniors' Centre is open to adults 55+ for $34.88 a year, with a $10 fee for non-residents. The free 65+ Fit membership is for residents only.
If your parent applies to extend from inside Canada, biometrics are given at a Service Canada office by appointment only. IRCC also has an office at 3085 Glen Erin Drive (by appointment).

My parents land at Pearson. Which hospital would they go to?
Pearson is in Mississauga. The nearest Trillium emergency departments are Mississauga Hospital at 100 Queensway W and Credit Valley Hospital at 2200 Eglinton Ave W, both open 24/7. Start the policy on the landing date so the drive home is covered.
How much does a hospital charge visitors near Mississauga?
Trillium doesn't publish visitor rates. As an Ontario example, Niagara Health charges non-residents of Canada $3,750 a day on a ward, $4,500 a day in ICU and $850 per emergency visit (from July 1, 2026), before doctors' fees.
What income do I need to invite my parents?
It depends on family size: $30,526 for 1 person, $38,002 for 2, $46,720 for 3 and $56,724 for 4 (IRCC table updated July 29, 2025). Since March 31, 2026 you can also qualify with 75% of the amount plus your parent's own continuing income. Use the checker on this page.
Can my parents ride MiWay for free?
Seniors 65+ ride MiWay free with a PRESTO card set to the senior fare type. The City lists proof of age and doesn't mention residency, so bring your parent's passport when setting up the card.

Can I pay monthly?
Yes. IRCC accepts a policy paid in instalments with a deposit. In our October 2026 quotes, monthly payments started at $135.05 for a 66-year-old with $100,000 of coverage.
What if the visa is refused?
Most insurers refund the full premium if the visa is refused and you send the refusal letter before the policy starts. We handle the refund request for our clients.
