A walk-in clinic, a doctor or a hospital the insurer works with. Show the policy number.
Keep every paper
Itemized bills, receipts, the doctor's notes, prescriptions and the ambulance report. Take photos as a backup.
Submit the claim form
If you paid anything yourself, send the claim form with the originals or copies the insurer asks for, before the deadline in your policy.
Answer the insurer's questions
The insurer may ask for medical records from home to check pre-existing conditions. Reply quickly so the claim isn't delayed.

How to choose visitor insuranceSuper Visa Insurance Claims: FAQs
Do I have to call the insurance company before going to the doctor?
Yes, for most Super Visa and visitor plans. Call the emergency assistance number on the policy before any non-emergency visit. The insurer directs you to a clinic or hospital and can often pay them directly. On one plan we sell, late notice limits payment to 80% of eligible costs, up to $25,000.
What if it's a real emergency?
Call 911 or go straight to the nearest emergency department. Then call the insurer, or have a family member call, as soon as possible. Insurers don't expect a call before life-saving care, but they do expect to hear from you quickly.
What happens if we don't call the insurer first?
The claim may be reduced or refused. On one plan we sell, payment is limited to 80% of eligible costs, up to a maximum of $25,000, when the insurer isn't notified as required. With hospital stays costing thousands of dollars a day, that gap can be large.
Will the insurance company pay the hospital directly?
Often, yes, if you call them. The assistance line can arrange direct billing with the hospital or clinic. If you pay yourself, you submit a claim afterwards to be reimbursed.
What documents do I need for a Super Visa insurance claim?
A signed claim form, the policy number, the passport or proof of travel dates, itemized bills, receipts, the doctor's report or emergency notes, and the ambulance report if one was used. Use the checklist on this page.
Can a claim be refused because of a pre-existing condition?
Yes. The insurer checks medical records from home. If the condition wasn't covered, wasn't stable for the plan's stability period, or wasn't declared, the claim can be refused. That's why the medical questions must be answered accurately at purchase.
Does making a claim affect a refund if my parent goes home early?
Usually yes. Most insurers only refund unused months if no claim was made. Ask us before claiming a small amount if an early return is possible.
Can you help us with a claim?
Yes. If you bought through Insure In Canada, WhatsApp or call us and we'll help you contact the insurer, fill in the form and follow up.
